Sofia Olexia-Daigle is a Louisiana-based multidisciplinary artist working in ceramics and glass. Inspired by the wetlands surrounding New Orleans, her work explores themes of womanhood, Cajun identity, and environmental connection. Through ceramic doll forms and blown glass elements, she incorporates imagery of wetlands and alligators to symbolize feminine resilience, transformation, and belonging.
Olexia-Daigle earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tulane University (2026) after graduating from The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (2022). At Tulane, she studied glass and ceramics under Gene Koss, Christian Stock, Jeremy Jergan, and William DePauw, and worked with Carroll Gallery curator and professor Laura Richens. During her undergraduate studies, she exhibited work in several university exhibitions including Tulane Violence Prevention Institute: Perception (2024), I Gotta Tell You Something About Me, Diboll Gallery (2025), Masked Violence Exhibit, Lavin-Bernick Center (2025), Undergraduate Juried Show, Carroll Gallery (2025), Twenty-First Century Salon des Refusés, Carroll Gallery (2025), and the Tulane Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition (2026). As well as being a part of the Louisiana Fine Arts Showcase through Southeastern Louisiana University's Presidential residency.
Olexia-Daigle has been involved with YAYA Arts Center since 2013, where she developed her practice in glassblowing, ceramics, and mixed media. Through YAYA, she has participated in Just Say YAYA Exhibition and Sale and served as Auction Lead Manager, raising $10,000 (2026). She has also presented live ceramics demonstrations at the Jobs for the Future Conference (2025) and at the unveiling of Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World (2022). Additional opportunities include a commissioned monochrome book box for Tulane University (2022), an exhibition at Longue Vue House and Gardens (2024), an event promotions interview on WWL-TV (2026), and being featured on the cover of St. Charles Avenue Magazine (2020).
She interned with resident glassblower James Vella and studied with Laguna B in Murano (2022). From 2018–2022, she was also a member of the Youth Artist Movement through the Arts Council New Orleans, contributing to several collaborative public art projects including the Four Seasons Hotel Project with Rontherin Ratliff (2021), the Unframed mural on Baronne Street with Bmike and the Helis Foundation (2019), the Living with Water mural at the New Orleans Hostel with Carl Joe Williams (2019), a digital mural displayed at LUNA Fête with Carl Joe Williams and Andrew Wade Smith (2018), and the Transportation Mural with Ayo Scott, currently displayed at the University of New Orleans (2024).
